Filler – Hiatus

I acknowledge I need to address the issue of the delays in the comic. The complaints can sting at times, but there is truth to some of it; it shouldn’t be taking this long to release pages.

Before I left on my trip, I got together with Curran and we finished reviewing the script for the remaining 6 pages of the comic. Since I got back Ive been working on the storyboard for those pages and I plan on having them completed within the next two months.

At that point I’ll resume updates to iMew, with new pages being released immediately after the donation counter hits its goal. Currently the first of these remaining pages is already paid for, if any other get funded from now till the end of the hiatus they will get released on a once a day basis.

I’ll also be using this time to plan for a comic print, possibly via Kickstarter. More news on this come the end of July.

Thanks again for all your patience guys, and mostly your enduring support with this comic.

    I’m anticipating a print c:

There will be a print, hopefully that will also be something I work on during the hiatus.

First I want it known that this is in no way complaining about the artist going on holiday, people need a break once in a while to visit other places and experience new things to refresh their minds. That said…

You know that people can go back to the previous page and see when this thing was last updated, right? You even left a comment in the description acknowledging that enough cash had been collected to give people another page.

What would potential donors thing when they see a 2+ month gap between the last page and an announcement that it’s going to be another 2 months for a single update? My guess is that they simply won’t contribute, as I’m now disinclined to do in the future. I mean, I read comics that are slow to update (some of which may not have updated in 6+ months at a time) but at least they’re not pay-to-display. Customer service and/or satisfaction? What’s that?

Seriously just consider putting a paywall on Carribean Blue if you’re strapped for cash, you seem to actually want to work on that so there’s less chance of people waiting… how many months? Five by the time you’ve given for the end of the hiatus? Waiting five months to see the results of their investment. Would you normally take that long on a commission or…?

I whole heartily agree with this. I love iMew with a passion, and in no way do I mean this in much negative connotation but, putting a pay wall on something so many enjoy is a bit annoying. I know that iMew was put up as a side comic (and was meant just for kicks) but, now that so many enjoy it have that original pay-wall up is a bit silly, however; I’m not saying to get rid of the money concept altogether. Maybe work on a page during the course of a month and have a donation make you work on it more one day and then during the first of that next month release the page.

Now, although I say all this, breaks and hiatuses are a neccesarity of doing anything really, because, in reality, if you do something for to long or too often, it does burn out the passion.

Nekkony, I love you and all your comics and look forward to the months ahead.

I’ve come to terms with the fact that I just don’t have the time to consistently draw two comics a week. Lesson (hopefully) learned. That being said, I’m not going to just drop iMew.

However, I don’t see how making it a free comic would be an incentive to finishing it any faster.

You don’t want to pay and you want constant updates, I get that. iMew is a paid comic, thats not going to change. This announcement is just my gameplan for guaranteeing updates. It unfortunately requires additional time, but that’s what I came up with.

I’m entirely open to suggestions. If you guys really don’t like this idea I’ll consider trying something else.

        • Mr.Montag

I understand, besides; I’ve never run anything more than a track. :P I know and trust you’ll do what’s best to keep you alive and us happy :) I do want to apologize if my previous statement came out a bit rude, I always seem to come out a bit rude in comments I make. Again though, I love this comic and I appreciate all you’ve done.

p.s. sorry ’bout misspelling your name earlier… ^-^”’

The idea I came up with would be a permanent solution to the comic, so it would happen one time and never be an issue again. I think that would be worth a two month wait.

Converting CB to a paid comic so iMew would be free will only make more people upset and it wouldn’t do anything to solve the lack of time issue.

I’ll try to think of a better way to present the funding aspect of the comic for you guys.

I’m a tad disappointed, but ultimately I think I’ll live :-) What Anonny said about donations I agree with, and hope that once this hiatus is over and everything is caught up with, there will be a game plan so that the comics can push forward regularly and you can have your life, unencroached upon, at the same time…. and we might even at that point hand you some hard-clawed wages…. :-p

In the mean time, I’ll be waiting here, like a kitten at the garden door, pawing at the glass panes…

NEKONNY! I would like to compliment your comic as a start. May I admit and elucidate that I have always seen your adherence as being non-indulgent towards this astounding series of aesthetic abstraction, though, I have seen great potential and, at least, an indifferent care proceeding this comic. I will submit to the fact that updates are…well…varying over time. I shall not censure this flawed personality to this comic, but will acknowledge it. In any sense, I should not and therefore will not show any hesitation towards adulating your requesting justification for delay. I only thank you with great gratitude for aggregating your ability to fabricate a superior work of art such as thee. The next two months is worth the wait, so, so be it. I would, of course, never turn down an idea such as yours to absolutely cease an existing quandary and end any chaotic remarks that only cause mischief and more catastrophic dispute. Any solution is better than no solution. In all honesty, I do hope that you did not learn a lesson from the prior altercation, exclusively because I wish an idea similar to this would eventually rise to reconsideration. As I have stated, I really do enjoy an artist’s work, such as yours, and look forward to seeing new capitulation.

On another note to everyone else – Just give the guy some slack already. He’s has already explained a solution and seems sincere enough to abide his idea. If you have such a problem with the idea then make your two of your own comics and see if updating them each a week doesn’t effect your personal life very much. If you can’t draw then try writing a book in one month or something. I don’t know, just stop complaining and be patient, It could always be worse.

Ahem *he – sorry didn’t pay attention there. And take out that your in “make your two of your own…”
